Garden City Church

A new local church forming in Panama City, FL

We are a spiritual family redeemed by Jesus and sent on mission with Him in the world. We exist to lead all people to passionately follow Jesus as He makes all things new. Forever changed by the good news, we make our lives all about Jesus by daily submitting to the life-giving authority of Scripture, posturing our hearts in surrender, serving with radical generosity, and honoring one another.

Who We Are

God is at work in Panama City, Florida, and we are eager to join Him in what He is doing here and around the world.

“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”

Ephesians 3:20-21

Jeff Hinckley is the Lead Pastor of Garden City Church. His passion is teaching God's Word and shepherding God's people.

In 2014, Jesus saved Jeff during his senior year at Oklahoma State University and soon after called him to pastoral ministry. In response to that call, Jeff enrolled at Dallas Theological Seminary, where he earned a Masters in Theology. While his seminary education was invaluable, Jeff often says the greatest gift he received in Dallas was meeting his wife, Lauren.

For more than a decade, Jeff has served in pastoral ministry and the local church. In 2024, while serving as the Discipleship Pastor at The Orchard in Tupelo, Mississippi, God began stirring a fresh calling in his heart: planting a church in Panama City, Florida. Northwest Florida has long held a special place in the Hinckley family's story, and through a season of prayer, discernment, and wise counsel, God's call became unmistakably clear.

Today, Jeff and Lauren, along with their daughter Eden and son Stone, are excited to join Jesus in building His Church for the glory of God in Panama City and beyond.

About Us

Oversight

During the early years of Garden City Church, Jeff will serve as the Lead Pastor and sole elder, carrying the primary responsibility for shepherding and overseeing the church. This structure is intended to be temporary as the church is established and qualified leaders are raised up from within the congregation.

Garden City Church is being sent out by The Orchard in Tupelo, Mississippi, and planted in partnership with Stadia Church Planting. Throughout the church planting process, these relationships will provide encouragement, guidance, resources, and accountability as the church takes root and grows.

In addition, the Lead Pastor will appoint an Advisory Leadership Board made up of trusted leaders. During the first three years of the church plant, this board will provide counsel, support, and organizational stability while helping to identify, develop, and recognize qualified men for eldership.

Our desire is to establish a biblical plurality of elders as soon as it can be done wisely and faithfully. Following the principle of 1 Timothy 5:22, we believe church leaders should be appointed carefully and prayerfully rather than hastily. As elders are recognized and appointed, they will assume the responsibility of spiritual oversight together, and the Advisory Leadership Board will dissolve, having fulfilled its purpose.

We believe this approach provides meaningful accountability during the church's formative years and a clear pathway toward the shared leadership model taught throughout the New Testament.
